Shins Star Released From Jail Following Arrest

Marty Crandall, keyboardist in The Shins, has been released from jail just over 48 hours after he was arrested over an alleged incident involving his girlfriend.

Crandall and his girlfriend, star of US television fashion show America's Next Top Model, Elyse Sewell, were both taken into custody last Friday (January 4th) following an argument in a Sacramento hotel.

It’s understood that Police were called to the hotel by staff shortly after the argument broke out.

News of the couples arrest first emerged after Sewell posted a picture of a bruised arm online, claiming it showed injuries she sustained in the incident.

The post, on the blog site LiveJournal, has been blocked pending legal investigation. 

In a statement, The Shins’ record label, Subpop, said: “There will be no further comment at this time and we would appreciate their privacy being respected."

According to the Sacramento County district attorney's office both Crandall and Sewell will appear in court later today (January 8th).
