What begins as a rude awakening either at or after a particularly messy night out quickly descends into what could be considered by many as nothing short of a joke. It is in fact ‘Sweaty’, the latest release from Muscles and despite the initial annoyance factor; it’s damn clever. Combine raw synths, deep bass, a choir of Muscles’ vocals several octaves apart, date the whole lot and add the tribally chanted sub-chorus “Peace, Love, Ecstasy, Unity, Respect” and you’ve got an instant underground party floor-filling piece of perfect electro-fuzz-pop. There’s no need to take it too seriously but at the same time, don’t dismiss it outright.
Released 07/01/08 on Modular Records.
