Morrissey has given Salford Lads Club in Manchester £20,000 to help restore the now iconic building he helped make famous.
The organisation is currently raising funds to Grade II Listed Edwardian building, and Morrissey’s donation – originally intended to be kept private – has been made public after the Club insisted they needed the publicity to promote their campaign.
The Salford Boys Club has become a popular destination for Smiths fans after Morrissey and his bandmates posed outside in for the art work for their seminal 1986 album ‘The Queen Is Dead’.
