It has been rumoured that Madonna is suing some of her contemporise for copyright infringement.
The Queen of pop is suing Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre and Eve, claiming that Mary J.’s recent hit ‘Not Today’ which features rapper Eve and was produced by Dr. Dre too closely resembles Madonna’s 1983 hit ‘Holiday', reports AllHipHop.
Judith Finell, a New York musicologist who is an expert on copyright infringement has concluded that ‘Not Today’ and ‘Holiday’ are similar enough to warrant further investigation.
She told the Associated Press: "Both the pitches and the rhythms sound closely related. I don't think they're identical, because Madonna's song is in what we call 'major key' and Mary J Blige's song is in a ‘minor key.’"
The publishers of ‘Holiday’ could win $15 million if the case went to trial and jurors decided that the tracks were too similar.
