Ringo Starr has revealed that The Beatles were called “traitors” when they left Liverpool to live in London in the Sixties.
The drummer admits that the defining scouse outfit were upset and shocked at the negative reception they got from Liverpool people when they upped sticks.
The 67-year-old said: "We only left because we had to go where the jobs were, and in those days it was London.
"Now you can live in Liverpool, Leicester... it doesn't matter but at the time people were shouting 'traitors, you left us'. But we never let Liverpool down and we're always still proud of our heritage."
