Lily Allen has confirmed that she is expecting her first child with Ed Simons of the Chemical Brothers.
A spokesman for the pair said that they were "obviously both thrilled by the news."
Reports emerged in this morning’s papers that the singer, who released her debut album ‘Alright, Still’ in 2006, had only told family members about the pregnancy.
According to the singer’s spokesman, Allen is still expected to release her as-yet untitled second album in 2008.
As previously reported, she is also due to front a new ‘social-networking’ inspired BBC 3 television show next spring.
"As the pregnancy is at a very, very early stage, the couple ask that you respect their privacy, as the health of Lily and their child is their paramount concern," he told the BBC.
