Jason Bonham: 'Led Zeppelin Reunion Was Greatest Christmas Present'

He could wish for...

Jason Bonham, the son of Led Zeppelin’s original drummer John Bonham, has described the band’s reunion concert last week as “the best Christmas present I could ask for.”

Bonham joined the band’s original members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones on drums at the concert at the O2 Arena last Monday (December 10th).

Bonham said that there had not yet been talks with the rest of group about any future expectations.

"Is it gonna be again? Don't be greedy," he told Billboard. "Just take it for what you've done and be proud to be part of that. If they do it again, of course I would love to. But that's up to them. Only time will tell.

“If you'd have asked me a year ago, 'Are they gonna do a date next year?,' I'd have gone, 'No way!' So I was proved wrong once before."

Reflecting on the event, Bonham said it feels “surreal, like it never really happened in some way" and that he was “amazed” that he “pulled it off.”

“If you'd have wanted a moment for everyone to get it right at one point, that was it,” he added.

  • Since they couldn’t play enough dates in 5 years to meet the demand for tickets and due to their age, Zep should consider a brief tour (outdoor festival style) This allows them to reach millions of fans in short order, w/o the physical demands of a long tour. Say 300,000 -500,000 tickets per show multiplied by say 10 shows around the country allows them to reach 3-5 million fans, plus they could charge much less per ticket and still make millions more than a conventional tour.

  • We want to see them in the USA too. Keep pressing them to tour over there in the UK. If they feel they can handle it they will come visit us too.

    • @Gigwise Hmm, there might be some technical reason they're doing them in a particular order. Christ knows.

    • @Gigwise It's because the only way they could get Dave Rowntree to play the drums was to hypnotise him. Too strenuous otherwise, poor chap.
