If Wizzard married Slade and then cheated with T-Rex it’s camp brother would be The Black Arts' ‘Christmas Number One.’ From the minds of Black Box Recorder and Eddie Argos from Art Brut comes one of the most retro sounding Christmas songs in years. The song politely and pleasantly wishes everyone a great festive time and there is also a plead to bring back Top of The Pops.
The song takes a life of it’s own and describes the process of how it all came about in the opening line: “We wrote it on the beach in August as the snow began to fall/A Christmas number one could be a blessing for us all.” Sleigh bells Status Quo style power chords and Christmas cheer, it’s hard not to feel in the spirit after listening to ‘Christmas Number One.’
Released 10/12/07 on Fantastic Plastic.
