Amy Winehouse’s father has admitted that he was infuriated when he saw Pete Doherty backstage at one of his daughter’s gigs last month.
Doherty was a guest of Winehouse when she played at the Brixton Academy in London shortly before she cancelled the rest of her touring commitments for 2007.
"I do worry about people like Pete Doherty though. He's a scumbag,” Mitch Winehouse told Grazia. "I flipped when I saw him sitting with Amy backstage at her Brixton gig. That night I went crazy.”
"My wife thought I was going to have a heart attack, I was apoplectic," he explained.
When asked why he couldn’t force his daughter to go into rehab, he said that his “first instinct” was to “lock her away” to try and help her.
"But I've spoken to the finest drug counsellors in the world, and they've said that is exactly the wrong thing to do," he added.
