Coldplay have covered The Pretenders’ Christmas track ‘2000 Miles’ in the run-up to the festive period.
The version of the track can be listened to now on Coldplay’s official site here. Chris Martin admits that the band have tried to write their own Christmas song, but have so far failed to nail one.
He writes: “We love Christmas songs, but every time we try and write one it’s awful. So we cover them. Well once or twice actually.
“In fact the one song I would most liked to have written is ‘Fairytale of New York’ by de bloody Pogues of Ireland.”
The band's new album is expected next year, with a world tour also in the pipeline.
