Pete Wentz: 'I Am As Bitter As Kanye West'

Fall Out Boy bass player Pete Wentz has admitted to feeling bitter about the band not receiving a nomination for next year’s Grammy Awards.

Wentz was accused of overreacting after he wrote a blog post saying that “a fifty-year-old white man shouldn’t decide whether we [Fall Out Boy] are relevant or not”.

The bass player’s reaction prompted comparisons with US rapper Kanye West, who earlier this year refused to perform at any MTV shows after failing to pick up an MTV Video Music Award.

“It’s interesting, because you see the same people at the same podiums year after year, and I don’t know if people who love music can relate to that,” Wentz told MTV.

“It just seems like the same people get the nominations each year, and the same people make it up to the podium.

“If people are worried about us not having anything to whine about anymore, well, now we have plenty to whine about.”

He added: “And If people wanted to shut us up, they should’ve just given us that ****ing Grammy nomination.”

West led the way with eight nominations for next year’s Grammy awards when they were announced last week.
