Cat Power has announced a three week tour which will see her visit some of the most poverty-stricken countries in Africa.
Power, real name Chan Marshall, also plans to visit areas in India and Bangladesh during the three week journey next January.
Marshall revealed the ambitious trip, which is being held in conjunction with the New York based organisation, charity:, in a post on her Myspace page.
She said she had been to the country ten years ago but felt that at the time she had “no power to help the people."
“After all these years, I can finally return, exactly the way I always wished I could,” she added.
Marshall said that the trip will see her “visit a few hospitals with no water” and “dig a well [for] a few schools and just do basic travelling to ‘find’ new places for Wells.”
