Beck has denied new reports implicating him in the death of a New York filmmaker who wanted him to star in her movie.
The New York Post has published an article claiming the singer-songwriter's withdrawal from 'Alice Underground' was responsible for Theresa Duncan and boyfriend Jeremy Blake decent into "suicidal depression".
In newly published emails Duncan claims Beck had expressed interest in portraying a musician who is kidnapped by two schoolgirls after confiding in them he wanted to escape the Church Of Scientology.
Beck, a member of the Church, has denied the reports, saying, "That's ridiculous. Totally false. We never met to discuss the film. I did explain to her I wasn't looking to act right then, and with the album, tour schedule, and a baby on the way, it wouldn't be feasible.
"Had we been closer and discussed anything as personal as religion, I would have only had positive things to say about Scientology."
Duncan died of a drugs overdose in July, with Blake - who designed the artwork for Beck's 'Sea Change' album - committing suicide a week later.
