Estelle has revealed that Kanye West is rapping about WAGs on her forthcoming new single ‘American Boy’ – due for release in February next year.
The singer, who has recently completed a UK tour with West, and revealed that he takes inspiration from the most unlikely of sources.
She said of her single: “We were in the studio when Kanye started rapping about Ribena, his favourite drink, and WAGs. I said to him ‘Do you even know what a WAG is?’ And he said: ‘Yeah. She’s a gold digger’.”
Explaining the sound of the track, Estelle continued to the Daily Star: “The track is more of a dance song than hip-hop or R&B. It sounds like Moloko or Jamiroquai. I love working with Kanye. He’s a musical genius.”
’American Boy’ is lifted from Estelle’s new album Shine, which hits the shelves on February 25. Other guest contributors include will.i.am, Swizz Beatz, Wyclef Jean and that trumpet loving twerp Mark Ronson.
