A Fender Stratocaster guitar which had been signed by Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and Queen guitarist Brian May has been lost in the post.
The guitar had been expected to raise at least £20,000 for charity but was lost by the courier, Parcelforce, on its way to organiser Dave Allen’s house.
Although Parcelforce have agreed to donate £15,000 to Rainbows, a hospice for terminally ill children, Allen said he was “devastated” by the loss.
The music promoter had been accumulating signatures for the guitar for over a year and revealed that this had been the first time they “let the guitar out of our hands."
Parcelforce said that they had spent the last month searching for the guitar, which had also been signed by Bill Wyman and Pete Townshend, on their CCTV, reports the BBC.
