Pimp C was nominated for a Grammy Award yesterday (December 6th) – two days after the US rappers death.
The rapper, real name Chad Butler, was nominated alongside his long time collaborator Bernard ‘Bun B’ Freeman for their work with Outkast on the song, ‘Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You).’
Freeman described the the nomination - which will see them compete with Kanye West and Lil Wayne in the Rap Performance by a duo or group category - as “bittersweet to say the least.”
He added that it “was a lifelong dream for Chad, it warms my heart to know that he has finally gotten the recognition from the powers that be that his talent, passion and relentless drive for music so rightfully deserved."
Butler was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room on Tuesday (December 4th).
In an initial autopsy, no suspicious circumstances were found - pending a further investigation, reports Reuters.
