Rapper Pimp C, one of the pivotal figures in Texan hip-hop, has been found dead in his hotel room in California.
His family members found that he had not checked out of the Mondrian Hotel in Sunset Boulevard, California yesterday (December 4). Security staff went to investigate and discovered his body in bed.
Paramedics were called to the scene but Pimp C – real name Chad Butler – was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The cause of death is yet to be announced, with the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office confirming that they will be examining the body today. He homicide department are “continuing their investigations”, police confirmed.
Pimp C is perhaps best known for his rap partnership with Bernard ‘Bun B’ Freeman in the group Underground Kingz (UGK). They appeared on Jay-Z’s hit track ‘Big Pimpin.’
