Serial troublemaker Scott Weiland has had yet another run in with the law.
News emerged yesterday (December 3rd) that the scruffy haired singer for glam rockers Velvet Revolver was caught by cops in California after a minor accident between his car and another vehicle on a Los Angeles freeway on November 21st.
Weiland was charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). In the US this charge can mean either driving under the influence of alcohol, or drugs.
A California Highway Patrol officer summed things up in a way only a US law enforcement officer could: "The investigating officer administered a series of field sobriety tests to the driver [Weiland], which he was unable to satisfactorily perform."
Weiland’s performance being unsatisfactory, he was carted off to jail where he refused to provide a blood or urine sample. He was bailed the next day (November 22nd) for $40,000 to return to court on December 13th to answer a misdemeanour charge.
Bizarrely, Weiland – most famous for fronting Stone Temple Pilots in the 1990s – almost managed to bury the story. It was only yesterday that gossip site TMZ.com managed to dig up the tale from an unnamed source.
Weiland of course is no stranger to controversy. He was convicted of buying crack cocaine in 1995, charged with domestic violence in 2001 and charged with another DUI offence in 2003.
