The Enemy have presented DJ Alex Zane with a gold disc of their debut album as a thank you for banning them from his radio show.
The band and the DJ – who hosts XFM’s Breakfast show – became embroiled in a public feud earlier this year after Zane vowed not to play the band’s songs on his radio show.
However, the band’s frontman, Tom Clarke, has revealed that the publicity from Zane’s ban actually helped boost the group’s record sales.
"We sent Alex the gold disc we got for our album in gratitude for his avid support because he did us the biggest favour,” Clarke told The Sun.
"The week he banned us we did an extra 10,000 album sales. We only got one gold disc for the album for the three of us but we didn’t mind giving it away."
