The JD Set have announced details of s nationwide search for the UK’s best student band.

One band will win the chance to gain guidance from UK based booking agents XRay touring who look after the likes of PJ Harvey, Elbow and Bat For Lashes.

Bands must upload their tracks before January 8 to the JD Set Unsigned site to enter the competition.

The six best bands will then be invited to a series of master classes being held between January 15 and February 28.

At the sessions the bands will be able to gain tips from the likes of Peter Hook and other music industry professionals.

Each week will then see three bands playing a special event at the Beaconsfield Gallery in Vauxhall, London.

The winner of the competition will be announced on March 6 after being judged upon by a select panel.
