Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz has reportedly filed a legal case and desist request against Canadian Rock band Neurosonic.
The bass player has accused the band of exploiting his girlfriend, Ashlee Simpson, in the song, ‘So Many People.’
The lyrics for the song reference the popular American TV show, Saturday Night Live, where Simpson was once criticised for apparently lip-syncing during her performance on the programme.
“Everything under the sun / Going to hell in an episode of 'SNL' / Busted on the TV / You ugly girl, you cannot sing / Can't even lip sync / Apparently money can even buy you dignity,” the songs lyrics begin.
It’s also reported that during a performance of the song at New York's Knitting Factory, Neurosonic frontman Jason Darr encouraged the audience to do a dance like Simpson did in response to the negative criticism she received for her performance.
