More U2 U2’s Bono and The Edge played a secret London gig in front of just 250 people last night, in aid of charity (naturally).
The pair’s appearance was kept secret until they stepped out in front of the crowd at Islington’s Union Chapel, who had gathered to support the Jo Whiley curated Little Noise Sessions event.
They then played a four song set which included the first ever live performance of ‘Wave Of Sorrow’, which featured on the band’s 1987 ‘Joshua Tree’ album.
Whiley said afterwards that, despite being global rock stars for decades, the pair were genuinely apprehensive about their performance.
She said, “They were actually nervous beforehand, and after they came off stage, Bono was asking me if they’d been okay, and they were also wondering whether the ’new’ song had gone down well.”
