Queen's Freddie Mercury Voted No1 Rock Legend

Ahead of Elvis and Bowie...

Queen's Freddie Mercury Voted No1 Rock Legend Add to My Fav Bands List

Queen’s late frontman Freddie Mercury has been voted the top rock legend of all time in a fresh poll.

The star, who died in November 1991, beat the likes of Elvis Presley (second place) and Jimi Hendrix (third), in the highly debatable poll by Australia’s best selling newspaper The Herald Sun.

However, somehow middling rocker Jon Bon Jovi, who came in at fifth place, was above such legends as David Bowie (tenth), Mick Jagger (ninth) and, erm, Slash (sixth), questioning the integrity of the poll.

CLICK HERE to see where Freddie Mercury comes in Gigwise's Greatest Frontmen poll.

The full top ten looks like this:

1. Freddie Mercury
2. Elvis Presley
3. Jimi Hendrix
4. Ozzy Osborne
5. Jon Bon Jovi
6. Slash
7. Meatloaf
8. Eric Clapton
9. Mick Jagger
10. David Bowie

  • Freddie Mercury is the biggest rock legend in history. He upstages even Elvis. There will NEVER be another talent like Freddie. His vocals were amazing and his vocal range can’t compare with anyone else on the list. This man could sing anything aqnd proved it by doing an opera cd.

  • Elvis was by FAR the best--it’s proven by how influential he was. I would bet that if you asked a number of successful musicians/entertainer the same question--they would agree.
