A definitive tip for 2008’s kings of the electronic culture is A.Human, friends of all your average buddies: Metronomy and the rest. Not only that but they can also conjure up a few dance-offs in their cauldron of hits. ‘Horse With No Name’ sounds better louder and surrounded by dozens of drunken teenagers but it’s still pretty fun to listen to on your own, with nothing but your iTunes visualizer to look at. The song reports a legend of going to a desert, fed up of the rain, then it all turning into a water-filled ocean but you not really minding. Simple, anyone could think of that! The b-side is somewhat darker. ‘One Late Wednesday’ accounts a boy surrounded by psychedelic figures and doubts of being able to sing. There’s a boy who never sung a word, forcing him to take his own life and nobody noticing a thing. I prefer songs about deserts turning into sea really… Nevertheless both songs are utterly listenable, dreamy sounds and effects sweep in and out of your pair of willing ears and this is nothing but a great sign of things to come from the London collective.
Released 26/11/07 on Wall Of Sound.
