Gigwise is currently listening to what could be the Christmas compilation album of the year, ‘Never Mind The Pan Pipes’.
The album is a reworking of fifteen indie hits through the medium of pan pipes released by Ernest Records.
Amongst those getting a reworking are Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay, The White Stripes, The Gossip and The Killers.
The album came about after label bosses Ernie and Buddha witnessed two young pan pipers playing a cover of Kate Nash’s ‘Foundations’ in the ruins of Machu Picchu.
Those pan pipers were Acarapi and Adelmo who were then flown to London to record this amazing album.
Sadly, on their return to Peru after recording Acarapi and Adelmo were killed in a tragic accident and a 2008 world tour was subsequently cancelled.
The album is released on December 10 in the UK and Gigwise is urging all our readers to share in its pan pipe glory and make sure its at the top spot come Christmas!
