Amy Winehouse’s mother has spoken about her relief that the singer’s husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently in custody.
Janis Winehouse said that she hope’s her daughter will use the time to help tackle her drug issues.
"Thank God he's gone inside,” she told First Magazine. “Everyone else can see it. Amy chooses not to.”
She continued: "I think he introduced her to them. She thinks, 'Oh, this is good, this is OK'. But I think she's still a child and it has overtaken her a bit."
Despite her harsh words against Fielder-Civil, who is currently being held charged with attempting to perverse the course of justice, Winehouse’s mother said that if the relationship between the two is meant to be “it will survive” the recent troubles.
"But Amy's got to love him for him,” she added, “not because she feels sorry for him, or because he's got her doped up, not for anything other than that she has respect for him."
Fielder-Civil is due in court along with five other men on November 23rd.
