Melt in the mouth pure pop isn’t the kind of music you’d immediately associate with Australian songstress Sia, but ‘Day Too Soon’ is all of the above and gives Sia the wings to soar higher than many of her contemporaries. Melodic instrumentation, gentle organ lines and emotive strings provide a tempered platform for Sia’s heartfelt and lyrically sincere vocal. Not only does her textured sound stop the track short of becoming sickly sweet, it also elevates her standing as a singer-songwriter through the sheer warmth it generates; the kind any sane man would love to wake up next to on a Sunday morning.
Released 19/11/07 on Monkey Puzzle Records.
