Leona Lewis has outsold the Arctic Monkeys to grab the fastest selling debut album of all time in Britain.
The former X-Factor winner’s debut, ‘Spirit,’ sold 375,000 copies in its first week – over 12,000 more than the previous record held by Arctic Monkeys', ‘Whatever people Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not.’
The triumph completes a chart double for Lewis, whose single, ‘Bleeding Love,’ is also top of the singles charts for a forth week.
Elsewhere in the album charts, the Spice Girls greatest hits compilation went in at number 2, two places ahead of Led Zeppelin’s digitally re-mastered retrospective, ‘Mothership.’
The Killers b-sides and rarities album, ‘Sawdust,’ also broke into the top-10 at number 7.
Meanwhile, the singles charts saw Bloc Party enter at number 8 with their new song, ‘Flux.’
The British record for the fastest selling album is still held by Oasis, who sold 813,000 copies of their 1997 album, ‘Be Here Now.’

- Oh well, we all know Leona Lewis is disposable trash used as a corporate mouth piece by a record label to sell more predictable songs not written by her to the masses. She’ll be forgotten in due time. While the Arctics go down in history for being a awesome rock n roll band that wrote their own tunes, despite their hype.
