Dizzee Rascal may be holding on to his crown as the king of UK grime, but he’s got a long way to go before he makes up for the travesty that was 2004’s ‘Dizzee does Band Aid, squeaking about da money just before the Darkness kicked in. Still, at least his heart’s in the right place. In new single ‘Flex’ it’s in his trousers. Dizzee loves it when you flex like that. He loves it when you flex slow, fast, up or down. He just likes watching you flex, period. And he also likes you winding – in fact, he likes it so much he could ‘even watch a butters girl grinding’. And wait! His ‘things are rising’! Too much information, Diz. Old school garage at its finest, ‘Flex’ is the third single from recent album ‘Maths & English’ and his most dancefloor-friendly yet - judging by the gameboy synths even Super Mario’s flexin’ in there somewhere. I can hear people shouting ‘chooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!”’ from here.
Released 19/11/07 on XL.
