Fashion Police Called For Beach Boy Mike Love

He may be 66, but Mike Love of The Beach Boys fame has conclusively lost his grip on fashion sense.

Already famed for his tacky beach T-shirts, at a gig at Sydney’s Entertainment Centre last night (November 15) Love pulled out all the stops with the above garish number.

The shirt truly looks like the kind of scary acid trip that prompted Brian Wilson to lock himself indoors for a few decades.

Unfortunately, band mate Bruce Johnston didn’t fare too much better with his Hawaiian number. Quite what they were thinking, we’ll never know. Bring back Brian Wilson we say.

How silly you sound. Hawaiian shirts have long been a staple of the Beach Boys. Go take a look a some rappers with their pants hanging down to their knees and then call the fashion police

This thing is not Hawaiian. Love’s shirt is just as tacky as he is. But look at how Love’s former band (the Beach Boys) have dressed through the years, (except for a brief period in the early 70’s) and it’s no surprise that his tribute band also has no fashion sense.

Hawaiian shirts only became a Beach Boy staple after they decided to become an all-oldies band in the 80s. The Hawaiian shirts never looked good on them. I think the fashion police should’ve arrested the Beach Boys back in 1975 when they abandoned their cool hippie look for monstrosities; Mike Love would go shirtless but wear a gold lame vest and a gold turban, Al would dress like a golfer, Carl got into disco suits, the only one that looked cool post-75 was Brian with his bathrobes.

Mike’s been dressing tacky since his ’guru’ robe days of the late 60s. I don’t expect him to ever have ’fashion sense’.
