The Queen asked Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis about the festival’s trademark muddy fields as he collected his CBE from Buckingham Palace today (November 14th).
The 72-year-old, who found the Somerset festival in 1970, said after the ceremony that he was “thrilled” to have received the accolade.
When asked by the Queen about the mud, Eavis replied: “It's a very lovely farm and was looking splendid now. She said 'Good.'"
When the festival was first held it was attended by 1,500 festivalgoers. This year’s event, which took place in June, saw 170,000 people attend the festival.
Once again plagued by mud, this year’s Glastonbury saw headlining performances from the Killers, Arctic Monkeys and The Who.
