Sinuous in melody and dark in delivery ‘Suicide Girl’ is the debut release from Birmingham five-piece Bi-Polar Baby. Kaytee DeWolfe leads the group with a suggestive tone similar to Peaches and an element of early Blondie punk trying to force through. The song tells the tale of finding a girl in a very evocative manner. DeWolfe sings: “Will you be my Suicide Girl/Crawl across me on the dentist chair.”
The band’s sound is very ordinary with catchy pop guitars moving it away from the more extreme hardcore audience and dreary lyrics discarding it away from a more mainstream clientele. The chance to establish themselves as a definitive band in the market place may well be around the corner, but all the preparation in the world can’t help you if the song’s just don’t cut it.
Released 12/11/07 on Blacklustre Records.
