Jay-Z has revealed that the biggest inspiration behind his new album was fellow hip-hip rival P Diddy.
Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, said that P Diddy – who co-produced ‘American Gangster’ – was so inspiring that it was easy to write the accompanying lyrics to the music.
Talking about their time in the studio, Carter said: "When I get there, he plays me all this 70s-style music - keys and horns - and it takes me back to my childhood."
The rapper is expected to top the Billboard Top-200 with ‘American Gangster’ – his tenth studio album – after the album received almost universal critical acclaim.
