Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty fears that his addiction to drugs may lead to his death.
According to diary entries which were reportedly written during his recent stint in rehab, Doherty says that his “life would have been extremely manageable” had it not been for his addiction.
“No jail, no rehab, normal functioning friendships and relationships and a lucrative, respectable career,” Doherty writes. “I would probably own a house, a driving licence and a better reputation.”
He adds: “If I don’t pack in drugs, particularly crack and heroin, I am likely to either die, go bankrupt, go mad or end up permanently institutionalised. I’m on a direct course for all four.”
The diary entries – which the Sun claim were passed on by a 'concerned' friend – come after the paper published a new video last week of the singer injecting heroin.
The footage shot the day after Babyshambles appeared at the MTV Europe Music Awards, prompted the singer to being another voluntary course of rehab.
In a statement, Doherty apologised “to the medical staff, fans and wellwishers who have helped and encouraged his progress in fighting his addiction to heroin.”
