Jay-Z is set to clock up his tenth straight number one album this week when ‘American Gangster’ tops the US charts.
The hip-hop mogul shifted 179,000 copies of the long-player on the day it was released Stateside on Tuesday and is a dead cert for number one.
When it reaches the top spot, Jay-Z will equal Elvis Presley’s feat of 10 straight number one albums. However, he’ll still be a way behind The Beatles who have scored 19 number one albums in America.
Despite the impressive sales figure, he’s still some way behind Kanye West’s ‘Graduation’ and 50 Cent’s ‘Curtis’ which shifted 437,000 and 310,000 copies respectively on the first day of sale earlier this year.
