A man has been charged for vandalising a statue of the late US rapper Tupac Shakur, a police spokesperson has confirmed.
DeKalb County police in Georgia arrested the suspect, Kenneth Anthony Wilson, last Thursday (November 1st) in relation to a series of incidents at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Centre for the Arts in Stone Mountain.
As previously reported on Gigwise, a noose was found hanging around the neck of the Tupac statue at the Arts Centre on October 20th.
Wilson, who is of African-American descent, will now face a felony charge of second degree criminal damage.
DeKalb Police spokesperson, Mekka Parish, added that Wilson not be charged with carrying out a hate crime, however, because there was no evidence that the defacing was a racially motivated attack.
