US R&B star Chris Brown has said that he changed the name of his new album because he didn’t want to get into a publicity battle with Kanye West.
Brown had planned to call his new album, ‘Graduation’ – the same name as West’s chart topping third album which was released in September.
However, he has revealed that he changed the name to, ‘Exclusive,’ against the wishes of his management company in order to avoid any competition with West.
"I came up with the title (‘Graduation’) seven months ago and people were like, 'Kanye said that his album is called ‘Graduation,’ and we can just negotiate.'
"I was like, 'Nah, you're not negotiating... I'll just let him call his album ‘Graduation’ and I'll just change the title. It's no big deal for me."
West’s album topped charts in both the UK and US when it was released amid a public chart battle with fellow hip-hop star 50 Cent.
