The Eagles have held off Britney Spears in the race to reach the top of the UK album charts.
‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ – the band’s first new studio album since 1979’s, ‘The Long Run’ – has also become the band’s first number one UK album.
The number one ends a 33 year wait for the band to achieve their first number one.
Following months of publicity, Spears’ first album in four years, ‘Blackout,’ entered the charts at number two ahead of last weeks chart topper’s The Hoosiers.
Elsewhere in the albums chart, Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant and vocalist Alison Krauss reached number four with, ‘Raising Sand.’
Meanwhile, in the singles chart, X-Factor finalist Leona Lewis held on to the top spot with her single, ‘Bleeding Love,’ which once again outsold the rest of the top five added together.
Oasis propped up the Top-10 with their digital-only single, ‘Lord Don’t Slow Me Down,’ which is also the title track of their new DVD tour documentary.
