US rapper Jay-Z has said that Nas’ proposed title for his new album is “misguided” but he added that he’ll still support the release.
Nas is due to release the controversially entitled, ‘N*gger,’ on Jay-Z’s label Def Jam Music on December 11th.
"I know he is very intelligent and there's a reason behind what he is doing,” Jay-Z explained. “He's not just doing it for the sake of being provocative. Of course we are going to support his art.
"I hope (the concept) is coming from a great place. I believe it's coming from a great place. I just think it's misguided."
Nas – real name Nasir Jones – changed the title to ‘N*gger’ after his original proposal, ‘N*gga,’ was widely criticised.
Fellow rapper 50 Cent also criticised him for using the word in the title, saying that it was "a stupid name."
Jones says that he thinks that by using it as the title he will take the power out of the word.
