Keane frontman Tom Chaplin was sick twice during the band’s performance at a Warchild gig in Manchester gig last night.
The ex-alcoholic and cocaine addict was diagnosed with a severe throat infection and gastro enteritis and spent much of yesterday spewing up his guts.
However, he battled on with last night’s event at the Apollo – despite having to leave the stage twice to be sick.
Organisers said in a statement: “Tom from Keane was struck down with a severe throat infection and gastro enteritis during rehearsals for the Keane War child event. On stage in Manchester, Tom had to leave to vomit on at least two occasions, after being sick all day, but like a true professional Tom played on – delighting the Manchester audience and raising thousands for War Child.
“The show had to finish 15 minutes early as paramedics had to be called, but Peter Kaye held court delighting a satisfied and sympathetic audience.”
Despite his illness, the band are set to go ahead with the second Warchild event tonight at London’s Brixton Academy where Keane perform alongside Lily Allen.
The statement finished: “War Child is an extremely important charity to him and Keane and in his own words... The show must go on!”
Bless his spherical chops.

- why the hell is he a tosser???? you would be calling him a tosser if he abandoned the gig, arse hole

- Get a bloody grip people, the poor lad was ill and did his best! Some people are never pleased!

- seeing keane live is enough to make anyone throw up let alone the guy inflicting it on everyone

- Wonderful guy, charity comes first and all that. Already high in my estimation, he’s gone up a million times.

- Tom’s been through a lot, and the fact that he was willing to actually do a gig after his rehab is a tribute to his strength of character. AND he kept on going despite being sick. I know I probably wouldn’t if I was in his place, so I would advise people to be more forgiving!!!
