This Aint Vegas - 'Short Term, Long Term'

I know everyone raves about these guys, but to be honest, they’re not doing much for me. Hailing from the same bit of Blighty as the good ol’ Futureheads, This Aint Vegas have got the same awkward oh-is-this-a-guitar-I-thought-it-was-a-maths-book thing going on in 'Short Term, Long Term' but they haven’t got quite the same knack with a tune. Having said that, the '24 Past 8pm' is better - a Wire-meets-Gang of Four update, and they’ve got the shouty bits down pat. If jerky art-rock circa 2005 floats your boat, give ‘em a go – otherwise it’s hardly groundbreaking, but they’re a young band, and if they learn to stick a chorus in their songs somewhere, I’ll give them another listen.
