Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has said that the band had to scrape Pete Doherty off their toilet floor at this year’s Isle Of Wight festival.
Speaking about the Rolling Stones experiences with Drugs, Wood – who has just released his own autobiography – admitted that things happened a lot differently in the band’s prime compared to musicians of today.
“I don’t want to recommend this to younger readers, but we had a great time,” explained the guitarist. “What I notice about Pete [Doherty] and Miss Rehab [Amy Winehouse] is that they are kind of doing it on their own, whereas in the old days we all used to party together.
“Like Pete backstage at the Isle of Wight: he asked to use our toilet, and three hours later we had to scrape him off the floor,” Wood told the Times.
He added: “We weren’t like that. You’d walk into a room and say, ‘Break it out’, and everyone would cheer.”
