Russell Watson has been told that his recovery from surgery to remove a brain tumour will be a “long haul.”
Watson had emergency surgery in Manchester last Thursday (October 25th) after he fell ill during a recording session for his new album.
A scan revealed that a benign tumour that he had removed last year had re-grown.
According to Richard Thompson, the opera singer’s manager, Watson’s surgery had to take place through the mouth, which has triggered fears about his singing career.
He told the Mirror: "They could not follow the same route as before because there was too much scar tissue. The mouth is always risky especially if your career is singing. This is why we know his recovery will be a long haul this time."
Watson shared an emotional reunion with his children after the surgery and more family members are expected to visit him as his recovery progresses.
Thompson described his condition on Saturday as "serious but stable."

Why would you think a brain tumour will stop him singing? He’ll carry on for the sake of his children! Do you not read Take a Break?
- Speaking from personal experience, it’s difficult recovering from one tumour but two is REALLY hard work. How about some words of encouragement for someone so ill! Get well soon Russell!!

- This is for Russell, I wish you good health and a speedy recovery. I think you are fantastic. Hope to see you soon, whether it be on TV or in a concert.
Love Val xx

i didnt know he posted on gigwise! i bet he was avabirrabully!
- I hope the person who made the comment ” but at least he may not sing again” is never in the same position as Russell Watson and has to go through such a terrible experience. I have seen him perform live 3 times and the sheer pleasure and entertainment he gives his fans is second to none. Get well Russell however long it takes, sending love and very best wishes to you and your family for a complete recovery and a massive thank you for sharing so much with so many. xxx
