The Crown Prosecution Service have said that the image owned by Elton John which was removed from an art installation last month was not “indecent.”
‘Klara and Edda Belly Dancing’ by American artist Nan Goldin was removed from Gateshead's Baltic gallery by Police after its depiction of two young girls – one of whom was naked – was brought into question.
The image had been due to go on display at the gallery the day before it was taken away for investigation.
A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service said: “The evidence is insufficient to justify proceedings for offences of possession or distribution of an indecent photograph."
The BBC says that it was Sir Elton who asked for the photograph to be removed from the exhibition.
