Former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook has said that he thinks Editors sound like Joy Division.
Speaking exclusively to Gigwise about the influence that Joy Division’s music has had 30 years on since the death of frontman Ian Curtis, Hook admitted that he think that Editors’ music has always resembled his former band.
“I brought the Editors LP (‘The Back Room’) because I liked the sound, even though it did sound like Joy Division, I thought the LP actually reminded me more of like John Cale,” Hook revealed.
He ccontinued: “Then when I heard the next LP (‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors’) and that really reminded me of Joy Division so it was quite a strange situation."
