Peter Hook: 'Editors Sound Like Joy Division'

Former Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook has said that he thinks Editors sound like Joy Division.

Speaking exclusively to Gigwise about the influence that Joy Division’s music has had 30 years on since the death of frontman Ian Curtis, Hook admitted that he think that Editors’ music has always resembled his former band.

“I brought the Editors LP (‘The Back Room’) because I liked the sound, even though it did sound like Joy Division, I thought the LP actually reminded me more of like John Cale,” Hook revealed.

He ccontinued: “Then when I heard the next LP (‘Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors’) and that really reminded me of Joy Division so it was quite a strange situation."

    • Editor's front man sings in exactly the same baritone way, with the same intonation/pronouncement of consonants.. in a shameless rip off kind of way. Quite strange to do it. Like he thinks the new kids ain't heard the old music so that makes it fine. I personally find it uncomfortable to listen to. Ian died ffs. Elvis impersonators are cool, he is not.
