A quick glance at the promo copy that accompanies this single and a careful check of their influences (The Enemy, Razorlight, The Libertines), you know what you can expect before you even press the play button. The genre of choice, those influences and that band name all make for predictable times. With ‘The Game Is Up’ and ‘Too Much Too Soon’ you can anticipate every next chord, every next lyric and basically, everything about the songs. Think The Enemy with less moaning and less originality, think Milburn with even less of an ability to make a decent tune, think the downfall of indie music. The Rocks aren’t criminals of music but they should certainly buck up their ideas for the future, otherwise we all know what tripe we can expect.
Released 22/10/07 on Weekender.
