Radiohead Ditch Album Artwork 'At Last Minute'

Radiohead’s cover artist, Stanley Donwood, has revealed that the band dropped the artwork for their latest album ‘In Rainbows’ in a “last minute decision.”

Donwood told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that the band decided to hold onto the artwork that he created because the album was only released on MP3.

"It was a last minute decision, it was all ready to go but ended up being left on the laptop,” Donwood said.

“What did you miss out on? Well it's very colourful - I've finally embraced colour! It's a rainbow but it is very toxic, it's more like the sort of one you'd see in a puddle."

Donwood also told the Today show that he didn’t pay anything for the album – which allowed fans to name the price they paid for the release.

"I paid no pence for the album, I was just checking the website was working,” he admitted. “If you paid nothing the screen flashed up 'we value your custom, you're in a queue', whereas if you paid for it you went straight to the download code, just a bit of irony that no one got as normal."

    • i don’t like the new look comments area...why is Rolling Stone changing its website (for the worse) daily? They make more poor changes to the website ina a given week than new album reviews with this bitching out of thw way...I can’t wait to see the artwork.
