Amy Winehouse has blamed her insecurity about how she looks for causing her to drink excessively.
Speaking in a forthcoming DVD documentary, Winehouse says that she’s always had a problem with her appearance.
“I'm quite an insecure person. I'm very insecure about the way I look. I mean, I'm a musician I'm not a model. The more insecure I felt, the more I'd drink,” she says.
"And to Tracey Trash, who does my hair, I'd be like, 'Bigger! Bigger!' - like the more insecure I feel, the bigger my hair has to be."
As well as featuring an insightful interview with her father, Mitch, = ‘I Told You I Was Trouble’ – which will be releases later this year – also sees Winehouse talk philosophically about her overdose in August.
"I was just doing one destructive thing after the other,” she admits. “I was quite self-destructive.”
She adds, however, that she has no intention to change: "Life's short - just do it, do you know what I mean? Life's short and I've made a lot of mistakes, you know.
"I always say I don't regret things and I don't say sorry, but I do really. I believe strongly in fate. I believe that everything happens for a reason."
