Reggae Star Lucky Dube Is Shot Dead

Prominent South African reggae star Lucky Dube has been shot dead in front of his family in Johannesburg.

In what is believed to be an attempted car jacking on Thursday night, Dube was dropping off his two children in the Rosettenville area of the city when he was shot three times.

The shots were fired directly into the silver-grey Chrysler car window while his son and daughter were outside of the car.

When police arrived they found that Dube was dead at the scene. Three people are suspected of carrying out the shooting.

Dube’s songs were renowned for tackling hard-hitting social problems. His latest record, ‘Respect’, was released in April this year.
