Sir Paul McCartney has reportedly offered his ex-wife Heather Mills a £25 million divorce settlement.
The report in today’s Mirror claims that the former Beatle initially offered Ms Mills between £3 and £5 million but has since increased his offer to £25 million following negotiations with her legal team.
A source tells the paper that the figure is “the closest they have been" to achieving a settlement.
Both McCartney and Ms Mills failed to agree on a settlement figure when they met in a private court hearing last week, leading to fears that their divorce would develop into a high-profile public case next year.
According to the Mirror, there is a confidentiality clause stated by McCartney in the new £25 million settlement which Ms Mills must sign.
Unconfirmed media reports had suggested that Ms Mills was seeking up to £60 million from the couples' divorce.
